Tim’s stuff; stuff to test style; examples of tables, columns and padding; also see the “sample” page.

Example of a basic table (without borders and top row shading – for alignment only)

All tables must be given a width (in pixels?), eg

<table width=”257″>

the widths of the columns of the table must add up to the table width, eg

<table width=”257″>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td width=”76″></td>
<td width=”91″>Summer</td>
<td width=”90″>Winter</td>

this is the default if you copy/paste from an Excel spreadsheet.

Summer Winter
Thursday 9am-11am 10am-noon
Sunday 8am-10am 9am-11am

OR the columns can be given a percentage of the total table width – don’t make the total add up to more than 100%, it won’t let you anyway, this allows a little bit for the separation of the cells and any cell borders. eg

<table width=”257″>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td width=”40%”></td>
<td width=”30%”>Summer</td>
<td width=”20%”>Winter</td>

this way has to be hard coded but the column widths will adjust if you change the table width

Summer Winter
Thursday 9am-11am 10am-noon
Sunday 8am-10am 9am-11am

Example of a fancy table (with borders and top row shading)

the table has a border and each cell has a border

Summer Winter
Thursday 9am-11am 10am-noon
Sunday 8am-10am 9am-11am

this is with the borders collapsed

Summer Winter
Thursday 9am-11am 10am-noon
Sunday 8am-10am 9am-11am

the following are equivalent and result in the same colour
<tr style=”background-color: cyan;”>
<tr bgcolor=”#00ffff”>

Example of a dual column construct

Bias put a column construct on Regatta Wharf strata page – I don’t know why. It looks good (????). Here is how it was done.

The column control constructs show in the visual editor and the text editor but not on the rendered page. The columns don’t show up in the visual or text editor but only on the rendered page.

This text will be in the left 2/3 width column and the picture will be in the right 1/3 width column

  • it even has bullet points
  • here is the second bullet point
  • and a third one
